Capitalist Realism 3

We organised the 3rd edition of the Capitalist Realism capita selecta with Robert Fletcher, Bram Büscher, Joost Jongerden and Chizu Sato. This year we concentrated our theories on Lacanian/ Zizekian ideology critique combined with a Community Economies perspective of Gibson-Graham. We hope the students found food for nuanced radicalization along this theoretical roller-coaster!

Beyond Sustainability

In period 6 we helped four professors spanning three chairgroups with their course on post- and anti-capitalist food futures. We did not design the course, but they approached us to ask us to take part in the public outreach of the course; both by helping with it's promotion - including the poster - and by organizing an open lecture series that allowed people not enrolled in the course to dabble in the radical perspectives it provides. As Otherwise, focussed on finding practitioners to complement the theorists already involved in the course.

Utopic Horizons

For Utopic Horizons we tried to employ artistic and academic methods to explore the limits of our collective and individual political imaginations. We went looking for the impossible, for paradoxes, inconsistencies and the tensions between our dreams, and found plenty. Every day in our office we still get to marvel at our massive co-constructed ceramic tower of babel we made during the course.

The iWeek is designed to give participants tools and experiential knowledge on how to deal with and address major societal and environmental challenges of our time. It is an i(nteractive) Week with workshops and spaces to exchange, allowing you to explore the principle of inner sustainability: how do you relate to others, yourself, and nature?

Review: Inner Sustainability & Health

Tuesday 13th of April, this event took place as part of our series on Inner Sustainability. On this evening focused on one particular aspect: our own health. Sometimes it seems we have lost an essential connection with our own wellbeing, and through the see of ways to become “healthier”, don’t know how to cure simple ailments or have the knowledge to prevent illnesses.
