Review: Inclusivity talk & dialogue

Last weeks we have been focusing on the topic of Gender & Diversity. We posted articles, videos and on the 12th of May, we gathered online to talk more about this topic during the event ‘Inclusivity - talk & dialogue’. The evening started with an interview of Nagaré Willemsen, visual artist and co-founder and coordinator of the Black Student Union at the Sandberg Instituut and Gerrit Rietveld Academy.

Review: Inner sustainability series

While we are continuing with more events, it is also nice to look back at what inner sustainability events already took place. In three Thursday evenings of inspiration and three Sunday afternoons of practice, we provided spaces in which we allowed for feelings about the world to be felt, reconnecting with each other on topics we care for and for the spark of active hope to become lit in us.

Review: New Economies

The lasts weeks we have been focusing on the theme ‘New economies’. We have shared articles and videos on Facebook and Instagram about degrowth, coronavirus capitalism, GDP, quality of live and mitigating climate change. Last Tuesday evening, 14th of April, we organized a concluding online event to reflect on coronavirus capitalism and on other topics that have come along.

Review: Music and Resistance

On the 19th of February we gathered at Thuis to look at the role of music in activism. Before introducing himself, Herman van Veelenasked us to stand up from our seats and sing with him. Repeatedly singing the sentences he learned us, every time I felt stronger and more united with the other attendees.

Review: Women's march

Women’s rights are human rights! On the 8th of March, we marched the streets for women’s rights in Amsterdam. All people f/m/x gathered at the dam square, before marching to the museum square where many inspiring speakers spoke. To be on the streets, together and marching for equal rights and opportunities for all people (f/m/x) felt empowering.

Review - De-migranticisation

How can we think and do ‘inclusion’ differently? This was the topic of the seminar on the 11th of November, called ‘De-migranticisation? An interactive discussion for practitioners and researchers on thinking and doing ‘inclusion’ differently.' It was organised by the Cultural Geography (GEO) Group of the WUR, by the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment of the Radboud University, and by OtherWise.
