Rooted Resistance
In times of fascism, deep inequality, environmental destruction, genocide and political violence, our resistance needs collective organizing. How can we resist? How have other movements in the past and present resisted systems of oppression? And, what does it mean to resist with care, community, and consciousness?
Resistance takes many forms and everyone has a role to play; protest, storytelling, social media, art, science, and rest. It is a matter of getting inspired and finding your community to organize with.
This theme also asks us to decolonise our minds and ways of knowing. Science is political, and knowledge is never neutral. We explore how guilt, people-pleasing, and internalised norms shape our nervous systems, and how we might unlearn them through dance, play, rest, and connection with the outdoors.
In solidarity with movements such as Wageningen for Palestine and global struggles against racism, fascism, and colonialism, this theme ‘Rooted Resistance’ looks at how local and global acts of resistance are interconnected. By harnessing collective organising energy, care, and relational strength, OtherWise seeks to explore how resistance can become a pathway toward regeneration, solidarity, and systemic change
